peanut butter brownies from brownie mix

Have you ever wondered “What can I add to a box of brownie mix?” Obviously, chocolate chips are an easy one, but what about making things a little fancier? I love the combination of chocolate and peanut butter so I started thinking about a peanut butter brownie. I decided to create a peanut butter swirl brownie using a box of brownie mix. It was so easy and so delicious!

The Best Brownie Mix for Peanut Butter Brownies

I recommend using Betty Crocker’s brownie mix but any 18.3oz box of mix should work just fine. If you have a smaller box of mix, such as a mix for an 8×8 pan, prepare it according to the package, add 1/3 cup of chocolate chips, and swirl in 1/3 cup of peanut butter on top.

Tips for Perfect Brownies

  • Be sure to spray your baking pan with non-stick spray, so that the brownies can come out of the pan easily.
  • Do not overbake the brownies. I recommend using an oven thermometer to ensure your oven doesn’t get too hot during the baking process.
  • Microwaving the peanut butter helps it spread more easily, especially if you’re using a thicker peanut butter.

Variations and Substitutions

I used dark chocolate chips but you could substitute white chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips if you prefer. You could even use peanut butter chips if you wanted an extra kick of peanut butter. I liked using creamy peanut butter but crunchy peanut butter works too. You could even use almond butter, for a different twist.
