3 Ingredient Nutella Brownies

These 3 ingredient Nutella brownies are dense, fudgy, and ridiculously easy. You need eggs, Nutella, and cocoa powder. That’s it. No flour, no butter, no melting chocolate on the stove. This dessert is so easy but so tasty!

If you’ve seen the viral 2 ingredient Nutella brownies, this is the upgraded version. A few tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder make them darker and fudgier, and they keep the hazelnut flavor from tasting too sweet.

I have to admit that when I first tried Nutella, I wasn’t a huge fan. (Maybe it’s just because I love peanut butter?) But since I needed to use it, I decided to turn it into brownies and these changed my mind! I’ll keep buying Nutella simply for this recipe!

Why You’ll Love These Nutella Brownies

  • Simple ingredients. Three things, and you probably have two of them already.
  • One bowl. Less dishes, less cleanup.
  • Naturally flourless. There’s no flour in the recipe, so they’re a great option for gluten free baking (see the note below).
  • Seriously fudgy. The cocoa powder makes these richer and more chocolatey than the 2-ingredient version.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Eggs: Use 4 large eggs. Room temperature eggs whip up faster and give you more volume, so pull them out of the fridge about 30 minutes before baking. In a rush? Set them in a bowl of warm water for 5 minutes.
  • Nutella: You’ll need 1 cup. It should be at room temperature or slightly warm so it blends smoothly into the eggs. If yours is stiff, microwave it in a microwave-safe bowl for 15 to 20 seconds and give it a stir with a spoon.
  • Cocoa powder: Unsweetened cocoa powder balances the sweetness of the Nutella and gives you that deep chocolate flavor.

You don’t need to add salt or vanilla. If you love a sweet and salty brownie, sprinkle flaky sea salt on top right out of the oven instead.

How to Make 3 Ingredient Nutella Brownies

Tips for the Best Fudgy Brownies

  • Use an electric mixer if you can. You can whisk the eggs by hand, but it takes a lot of arm work to get them to double in volume. A hand mixer or stand mixer makes it easy.
  • Check for doneness with a toothpick. Stick a toothpick in the center. A few moist crumbs are perfect. Wet batter means they need a few more minutes.
  • Don’t overbake. Overbaked brownies turn dry and cakey. Start checking at 23 minutes.
  • Chill for clean cuts. For bakery-style squares, pop the cooled pan in the fridge for 30 minutes, then slice with a sharp knife wiped clean between cuts.

Fun Add-Ins and Variations

  • Nuts, chips, or toffee: Fold in 1/2 cup chopped nuts, chocolate chips, or chopped toffee.
  • Caramel swirl: Drizzle 1/4 cup caramel sauce over the batter in the pan and swirl it with a knife before baking.
  • Extra Nutella swirl: Dollop more Nutella on top of the batter and swirl before baking.
  • Flaky salt: Sprinkle it on right out of the oven.
  • Nutella frosting: Once they’re cool, spread a thin layer of Nutella over the top. This is my personal favorite!

Are Nutella Brownies Gluten Free?

There’s no flour in this recipe, so these brownies don’t rely on any gluten-containing ingredients. If you’re baking for someone with celiac disease, double check the labels on your Nutella and cocoa powder to make sure they’re made in a gluten free facility.

Will These Have a Crackly Top?

Yes, usually! Whipping the eggs until they’re thick and foamy is what creates that shiny, crackly top. If your top comes out matte, the eggs probably needed another minute or two of beating.

How to Store Nutella Brownies

Store the brownies in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. They’re extra fudgy straight from the fridge, but you can let them sit at room temperature for 15 minutes if you like them softer.
