Description

Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Refined Sugar Free

Flourless.  Gluten free. Protein packed.  Zero refined sugar. But no one would ever guess they are eating something healthy when they take a bite into these indulgent salted caramel black bean brownies.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (15.5 oz) can of black beans
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened apple sauce
  • 1/4 cup agave
  • 1/4 cup salted caramel protein powder
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder*
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • Chocolate chips to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375F.
  2. Drain and rinse your black beans.  Combine with apple sauce and agave in your food processor and blend until smooth.
  3. Add your protein powder, cocoa powder, salt, baking soda and baking powder, and again blend until well combined.
  4. Lastly, add in your eggs and blend until you get a consistent batter.
  5. Fold in your chocolate chips (don’t blend again!) and then pour into an 8×8 baking dish lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake for 35 minutes, depending on your oven, or until the edges start to brown, it is firm to the touch, and a toothpick comes out mostly clean (keeping in mind there are chocolate chips it could hit).

Notes

*Can sub with additional protein powder

Use dairy free and refined sugar free chocolate chips to keep recipe such (I like Lily’s)

I have not tried with any other protein powder so I can’t recommend substitutes at this time
