Simple Poinsettia Cocktail

This simple poinsettia cocktail is a fun, festive recipe that is perfect for the holidays! Made with prosecco, triple sec, and cranberry juice, this flavorful drink is great for a party!

The Poinsettia cocktail is a classic and refreshing cocktail that is perfect for the holiday season. This cocktail is made with cranberry juice, triple sec, and prosecco or sparkling wine. It’s one of my favorite cocktails to make around the Christmas holidays but it’s also a great one for Valentine’s Day! It is named after the Poinsettia flower, which is known for its bright red and green colors that are often associated with Christmas. To really play up the red and green, you could garnish this with a lime twist or fresh cranberries. I kept mine simple with a sugared rim.

The key ingredient in the Poinsettia cocktail is cranberry juice, which gives the drink its distinct tart and tangy flavor. The juice is mixed with Cointreau or triple sec, which adds a subtle orange flavor and sweetness to the cocktail. This mixture is then topped with prosecco or sparkling wine, which adds a light and bubbly texture to the drink. This drink could also be made in a large batch and served in a punch bowl, if you wanted to make enough for a crowd. Ingredients and Substitutions

To make this classic Poinsettia cocktail, you will need the following ingredients:

  • Sparkling wine– I used prosecco, but you can use any kind of sparkling wine.
  • Cranberry juice– Be sure to use 100% real cranberry juice, not a cranberry juice cocktail, for the best flavor.
  • Triple sec– You can replace it with any orange liqueur.

Benefits of Cranberry Juice

Be choosy when picking cranberry juice to mix with your cocktail.  Make sure it is 100% juice and not from concentrate.  A lot of major brands’ cranberry juice is mostly sugar and water.  And you do not want that.  You want the juice from the real fruit to get all of the great benefits of cranberry juice!

If you’re looking for more festive cocktails, try my pink paloma which is one of my favorites to make for a girls’ night in. Or you can cool off with my refreshing cucumber elderflower martini.
