Grinch Christmas Tree Cookies

These festive Grinch-themed Christmas Tree cookies are the perfect addition to your holiday spread! Enjoy these tasty treats for your next party! 


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons half and half or your favorite cookie creamer
  • 1 teaspon vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • 4 cups all purpose flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Neon green food coloring
  • 1 cup red candy melts
 


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  3. In a large mixing bowl cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the half and half, vanilla and the eggs until well combined.
  5. Next add in the flour, baking powder and salt.
  6. Squeeze in some of the neon green food coloringand mix.
  7. If you need more green add more and mix again until desired grinchy green shade.
  8. Mix until a thick dough forms.
  9. Chill for 1 hour in fridge.
  10. On a floured surface, roll half of the dough out to 1/4-inch thickness.
  11. Using a Christmas tree cutter cut out your cookies.
  12. Shape the top of the tree into a little curl.
  13. Place cookies about an inch apart on the prepared baking sheets.
  14. Bake for about 7-9 minutes until cookies are just set and starting to turn light brown around the edges.
  15. Let cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  16. Mix 1 cup of powdered sugar with ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract and stir to make a thick glaze. If it is not wet enough add milk or water ½ teaspoon at a time until you have a thick glaze.
  17. Put a little glaze on the top of the tree and the tips and let harden.
  18. Meanwhile in a microwave safe bowl melt the red candy melts in 30 second increments until smooth and melted.
  19. Transfer the red chocolate to a ziploc bag and snip off a tiny corner.
  20. Pipe your red hearts on the trees.
  21. Let the chocolate cool and serve!!
