Apple Pie Rice Krispie Treats

Description

The classic childhood treat, with a touch of fall.  These apple pie rice krispie treats are easy to make, require no baking, and give a beloved treat a little festive flavor!


Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 oz bag mini marshmallows
  • 5 cups rice cereal
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon apple pie spice
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce (try my easy tahini vegan salted caramel)


Instructions

  1. Reserve 1/2 heaping cup of marshmallows and set aside. 
  2. Add the remaining marshmallows to a large pot. Add the milk and butter and heat over medium heat stirring frequently until the marshmallows are melted.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the apple pie spice and vanilla.
  4. Then pour in the cereal, stir, add the remaining marshmallows, and then stir until evenly coated.
  5. Pour the cereal mixture into an 8×8 baking pan lined with parchment paper.
  6. Using your fingers or parchment paper, lightly press into the pan.
  7. Leave the treats at room temperature to set.
  8. Once they’re set, drizzle caramel sauce on top.

Notes

Traditional Rice Krispie cereal is not certified gluten free.  If you want a gluten free option, I recommend One Degree Organics brown rice crisps
