Three Ingredient Dairy Free Hot Chocolate

Three ingredients, five minutes, vegan, cozy and delicious.  This dairy free hot chocolate is everything your family needs to warm you up this holiday season.

Nothing says winter time like a cozy glass of hot chocolate.  It is so cozy and perfect for watching holiday movies or cozying up by a fire.  I make this exact recipe every year for my family on Christmas Eves so it has a special place in my heart 🙂 and I hope your family loves it as much as we do!  It is great because it is so easy, you can use your favorite milk and sweetener to really customize it to you, and it is a healthier way to enjoy a decadent drink!

Let’s Make Some Three Ingredient Dairy Free Hot Chocolate!

This recipe is TOO EASY.  Take your favorite non-dairy milk, put it on the stove top, and some cocoa powder and sweetener, and bam you are cozy and warm drinking a great beverage on a cold night.

For the milk – I usually use almond or oat milk.  Oat milk is a little creamier but really just pick whatever is your favorite!

Then I use unsweetened cocoa powder.  You want to whisk it really well into the milk so that it Is dissolved and not powdery.

For my sweetener I always like to use stevia.  I use this brand and I love them.  You can definitely try any sweetener you prefer, just taste it and add more if you need to.  Stevia is super sweet so a teaspoon is plenty for me, but if you are using something else you might want more.

And then enjoy immediately!  If you wait too long the cocoa powder will start to settle at the bottom again.  And you want all that chocolatey flavor in every sip!

This recipe makes one serving so feel free to double/triple as you please!

In addition to the listed ingredients, you will need:

  • a sauce pan/small pot
  • a whisk or immersion blender to really stir everything well
  • a cute holiday mug to serve!

Three ingredients, five minutes, vegan, cozy and delicious.  This dairy free hot chocolate is everything your family needs to warm you up this holiday season.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup non-dairy milk
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp sweetener of choice*

Instructions

  1. Pour your milk into a small pot and put it to medium heat to warm it up.  Pour in cocoa powder and stir until dissolved.  Then add sweetener, taste, and add until you get a sweetness you like.
  2. Pour into a mug and serve immediately.  If you wait too long, cocoa powder will settle.

Notes

*I usually use a teaspoon of this stevia in mine (it is my favorite brand).  I haven’t tried it with other but I am sure you could do coconut sugar, regular sugar, or even try a sticky sweetener like maple syurp or agave, you might just need to adjust the amount – just taste it to tell!
