Iced Matcha Collagen Latte with Cinnamon

An Iced Matcha Latte The perfect refreshing drink for a hot summer day.  Great when you want a little caffeine boost without the jittery effects of coffee plus the added benefits of collagen peptides!

I have always been a coffee gal, but recently I am trying to cut back on the caffeine in attempts to restore my adrenals.  Matcha is a great option for that because it has caffeine, but less of it, and also comes with so many other great compounds and nutrients that support a healthy lifestyle.  And in this hot summer weather – it must be iced!

I have a classic iced matcha recipe you can check out, but here I decided to add an extra nutrient kick by adding collagen peptides.  Collagen is the most abundant protein in our body and is responsible for all sorts of things.  The problem is that as we age we lose a lot of it.  Supplementing with collagen peptides is a safe way to help maintain gut health, support our joints, keep our hair and skin at its best, and many other things.  You can read more about the benefits of collagen here.

My go to collagen has always been Further Food.  I have always enjoyed the benefits I have seen while using them and they are tasteless so I can add them to anything!  You can use code DONUTWORRYBEHEALTHY10 for 10% if you want to try theirs! Check out their site here.  When I first made this though I was trying a different brand, Zammex.  I haven’t been using it long enough to give it’s long term benefits much of a testimonial, but what I do love about their product is that it contains multiple types of collagen.  Whereas most collagen are either marine or bovine collagen, theirs combines both! This means it provides more and various benefits than using one alone because each provides different things.  You can check their products out here if you are interested.

Choosing your brand of matcha can also be difficult because there are SO many brands out there.  I originally decided to try Matcha DNA and have always been happy with it!  It is certified organic, undergoes third party testing to ensure quality, but is at a much better price point than a lot of the other matcha you will see out there!

In addition to cinnamon, feel free to add a dash of ginger and/or turmeric to your latte – both of these provide great anti inflammatory benefits and the ginger gives it a great extra flavor!

Lastly – you do not have to blend this in a blender if you don’t want, or don’t have one.  I have just found that it is the best way to get everything to truly dissolve.  I have also shaken mine in a cocktail shaker and it works pretty well, or sometimes I will stir using my handheld milk frother.  At last resort you can stir strongly with a spoon, just expect some powder might be there at the end!

Get your caffeine fix without the jitters of coffee AND an added protein boost when you try this iced matcha collagen latte.  Spice it up with some cinnamon and feel like you’re in your favorite coffee shop.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tsp matcha (I use this one)
  • 1 scoop collagen (use code DONUTWORRYBEHEALTHY10 for 10% off this one)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup almond milk
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1/8 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender, and blend until everything is dissolved.
  2. Pour over ice, add a dash more cinnamon on top, and enjoy!

Notes

If you don’t want to use a blender you can use a handheld milk frother, or put everything in a cocktail shaker and shake.  You can also stir, but that usually leaves a little powder undissolved.
