Oops I did it again.  I think I want to start an air fried cauliflower gnocchi blog next because it has become one of my favorite things to play with.  If you have absolutely no idea what I am talking about you need to check out my cinna-bun air fried cauliflower gnocchi, my sweet and sour gnocchi, and one of the all time biggest hits on my blog – my air fried buffalo cauliflower gnocchi.

This one may just take the cake though and I am not even kidding.  It is like the air fryer somewhat crystallizes the sugar in the honey and makes this candied taste to this gnocchi.  It is so perfectly crispy and the sweet and the spicy together just WOW this really is a must try.  I hope you enjoy it as much as we do because we cant stop eating it!

Let’s Make some Hot Honey  Cauliflower Gnocchi!

Alrighty so obviously we need to have our bag of cauliflower gnocchi ready to go for this one.  If you dont already know – get this from Trader Joes!  I am sure there could maybe be cauliflower gnocchi somewhere else but this is the only one I have ever bought. I don’t know why I always seem to let mine get freezer burnt – but if you are in the same boat – you are going to start by microwaving for 1-2 minutes (depending on how freezer burnt) in order to get all that extra ice melted off.

Then you are going to stick the gnocchi in the air fryer all by itself (no need for oil).  While that is cooking for the first time, make your sauce.  Literally all you do is whisk together the Mike’s Hot Honey and your water.

I like to check on my gnocchi every 5 ish minutes the first time, just to stir them around and separate them (they tend to stick together).  Once that time is up you are going to remove them from the air fryer, and toss the sauce on them (I like using a baggie or bowl with a lid so I can really shake them around).

Then pop them back in the air fryer and cook til crispy!  Takes about 5 ish minutes but I’d check on them every 2 or so just to make sure they don’t burn.

And that is it!

In addition to the listed ingredients, you will need:

  • an air fryer (If you haven’t pulled the trigger I promise it is the best investment you will ever make!)
  • a small bowl and a whisk or fork for your sauce

I think these would be perfect for a sports watch party so definitely keep this in mind for when sports come back after quarantine!

Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Refined Sugar Free

Crispy air fried cauliflower gnocchi covered in a sweet and spicy hot honey sauce.  Makes a great healthy snack or appetizer that tastes like a deep fried treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bag of Trader Joe’s cauliflower gnocchi
  • 2 tbsp Mike’s Hot Honey
  • 1 tsp water
  • Optional: red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. If your gnocchi is freezer burnt (I don’t know why I always let mine do this!) then microwave it for 1-2 minutes before putting it in the air fryer to get all the extra ice to melt.
  2. Then put gnocchi in the air fryer at 400F for 13 ish minutes, stopping every 5 minutes and stirring/separating (they tend to stick together).  You want it to be golden brown and crispy.
  3. While the gnocchi is cooking, mix the honey and water together and set aside.
  4. Take the gnocchi out and put in a ziploc bag or a bowl with a lid, pour honey sauce on it (add red pepper flakes if you want) and shake until evenly coated.
  5. Put back in the air fryer, checking every couple minutes, until crispy again (usually takes about 5 minutes).
  6. Enjoy!

Notes

This is the air fryer I use and I love it – it is big enough for everything I need and cooks so well – this one is from Belk and the best price I saw it at!
