Making the Sauce

Next, the stewed tomatoes and tomato paste are added to the saucepan along with fresh chopped basil, sugar, thyme, oregano, black pepper, red pepper flakes and salt. These ingredients work together to create a robust and flavorful sauce that creates a versatile sauce.
The sauce is then brought to a simmer and allowed to cook over low heat for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally. This slow-cooking process allows the flavors to meld together and deepen, resulting in a rich and flavorful sauce that will have your taste buds singing.
Once the sauce is cooked, it is removed from the heat and blended until smooth using an immersion blender or a regular blender. This step gives the sauce a smooth and silky texture that is perfect for coating pasta or dipping.
Finally, the sauce is tasted and adjusted as needed to ensure that the seasoning is just right. It can then be served over pasta, used as a dipping sauce, or stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Overall, this marinara sauce recipe is a simple and delicious way to add flavor and depth to any dish. With its perfect balance of herbs, spices, and tomatoes, this sauce is sure to become a household favorite.
Why Not Store-Bought Sauces
A marinara sauce sounds like it should be simple. Tomatoes, some spices, that should be about it. But if you look at the label of the jars in the supermarket, you will find lots of added sugar, therefore added calories and a bunch of ingredients you have probably never heard of or can even pronounce. Skip the storebought stuff and try this instead!

This is great to make on any pasta you prefer. I love it on zucchini noodles myself. Just cook the noodles, drain the excess liquid, and top with the sauce! Makes a great pre-run “spaghetti” dinner.
This sauce really tastes better than any I have had from the store. Once you give this a try and see how easy it is, and how satisfying, you will never want to buy from the store again.
