Hemp Seed Recipes
Have you tried hemp seeds before? If not you should definitely give it a try. These little seeds are packed with a ton of plant based protein, they provide omega 3’s and omega 6’s, and also include a lot of fiber and other minerals. They have more protein and more omegas than both chia and flax seeds, while also containing less carbs. See more on that here. I love adding hemp seeds into my recipes for an extra nutrient kick. They have a subtle nutty flavor so they are perfect for chicken like this, but you can’t really taste them so I will sprinkle them in yogurt bowls and green smoothies as well.
This meal is great for a weeknight dinner and you could definitely cut up your chicken and serve it as chicken nuggets which could be perfect for the picky young ones! Serve it with a great kale salad, or even some sweet potato fries! You can also check out all of my side dish for more inspiration.

Let’s Make Some Hemp Crusted Chicken!
Here are the tips and tricks I wanted to mention so you can have the perfect hemp seed recipe the first time:
First of all, you might be wondering – where the heck do I get hemp seeds? I actually buy hemp hearts (which is just the seed with the shell removed, also referred to as hulled) from Manitoba Harvest. They are a great company and I trust their quality. You can find them on Amazon! The outer layer of hemp seeds is really crunchy and makes them harder to eat, so hemp hearts are easier to digest and make the nutrients more bioavailable.
If you don’t have an egg you may be able to run the chicken under water and coat it after that. It won’t stick as well so I recommend sticking with the egg if you can, but it is an option if you need it.
I have only tried this recipe with almond flour, but you could probably do it with coconut flour as well.
The broiling at the end will help it get really crispy – but watch it carefully when you do this because broiling can go from crisp to burnt pretty quickly!
In addition to the ingredients listed below, you will need:
- two mixing bowls
- a baking sheet
- aluminum foil or parchment paper
- oil to spray chicken
