We all know and love the famous everything but the bagel seasoning from Trader Joes.  If you don’t I HIGHLY encourage you to go out and get some.  If you don’t have a Trader Joes nearby don’t let that stop you because a lot of other places have now come out with the same seasoning.  I see it in our local Costco (aka bulk size!) a lot and you can also get it off Amazon here.

This seasoning is the BEST.  I used it on eggs all of the times, dip avocado slices in it as a snack, I made everything cauliflower bagels with it here on the blog, and I am recently trying to think of more fun ways to use it – hence this  popcorn!  This is the perfect light snack to munch on while watching your favorite show – it is light, basically fat free, and won’t leave you feeling heavy once you are done!

Let’s Make Some Everything Bagel Popcorn!

So really all I did here was buy some stovetop popcorn, follow the instructions, and then add the seasoning once it was done.  I always buy organic popcorn since corn is one of the most common GMO products.  You can get it fairly cheap if you buy the Sprouts brand or get the 365 brand from Whole Foods!

So my popcorn said to use 3 tbsp of oil for 1/2 cup of corn kernels.  I did about 2.5 and was fine.  Then I used the rest of that oil at the end to spray my popped corn before I sprinkled my seasoning on it so that it actually stuck!  Otherwise it just kind of falls to the bottom.  I recommend using a spray can of olive oil for this to easier coat the entire batch without drowning it – I love this misto that I reuse for my oils – but you can lightly pour if you don’t have that!  You could also use butter instead of oil but I decided to keep this as a vegan option.

The only other thing to keep in mind is to not drown your popcorn when you spray it – you don’t want it to get soggy!  Just lightly mist it and pour your spice.  I promise this will become your favorite snack – it is so addicting and it really is so healthy!

In addition to the listed ingredients you will need:

  • a pot with a lid
  • a misto (not required but recommended)
  • a large popcorn bowl!

Easy peasy!

Instructions

  1. Cook your popcorn according to instructions, for example:
    1. put a large pot on the stove over medium/high heat.  Pour 2.5-3 tbsp oil in it, and 3 test kernels, cover with lid.
    2. Once those kernels pop, remove them and pour in 1/2 cup of kernels.  Shake gently to evenly coat, and recover.
    3. Kernels will start popping – leave the popcorn on the heat until the popping slows down to about 2 seconds in between pops.
    4. Remove from burner, crack lid to let it steam, and then when all popping is done, pour into a bowl.
  2. Once your popcorn is in a bowl, gently mist with olive oil, and then sprinkle your seasoning on top.  shake and repeat until all or most popcorn has seasoning on it.  And enjoy!

Notes

You can use melted butter instead of olive oil in step 2 if you prefer and you do not require this to be vegan.
