Description

Christmas Crack (AKA Saltine Toffee) takes the salty-sweet combo to a whole new level. It only takes 4 ingredients and about 20 minutes to make!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 40 Saltine crackers
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil and spray with non-stick spray. Add the saltines to the cookie sheet.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and the brown sugar. Allow to bubble and thicken on the stove top for about 5 minutes. Allow to cool slightly.
  4. Pour the toffee/caramel mixture over the saltines and spread with a spatula to cover all the crackers.
  5. Place in the oven and bake for 10 minutes.
  6. Remove from the oven and pour the chocolate chips over the saltines and toffee. The heat will melt the chocolate chips.
  7. Spread the melted chocolate with a spatula.
  8. Place in the fridge or freezer to harden for at least an hour.
  9. Once it has hardened, pull off the foil and break into pieces.
