Christmas Crack (AKA Saltine Toffee) takes the salty-sweet combo to a whole new level. It only takes 4 ingredients and about 20 minutes to make!
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
- 40 Saltine crackers
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil and spray with non-stick spray. Add the saltines to the cookie sheet.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and the brown sugar. Allow to bubble and thicken on the stove top for about 5 minutes. Allow to cool slightly.
- Pour the toffee/caramel mixture over the saltines and spread with a spatula to cover all the crackers.
- Place in the oven and bake for 10 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and pour the chocolate chips over the saltines and toffee. The heat will melt the chocolate chips.
- Spread the melted chocolate with a spatula.
- Place in the fridge or freezer to harden for at least an hour.
- Once it has hardened, pull off the foil and break into pieces.
