How to Melt Chocolate for Dipping

The easiest way to melt chocolate is either in the microwave or with a double boiler. If you don’t own a double boiler, you can easily replicate one with a saucepan and heat-safe glass bowl.

  • Microwave Instructions: Place the chocolate in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high in 15 second intervals, stirring between, until melted and smooth.
  • Double Boiler Instructions: Fill the saucepan a quarter of the way full with water and bring to a gentle boil. Reduce the heat to low and set the glass bowl on top of the saucepan. Make sure the water is not very close to touching the bowl. Add the chocolate to the bowl and stir constantly until melted and smooth.
