Ingredients and Substitutions
- Wonton wrappers- One package typically contains 40-50 wrappers which is more than enough for this recipe.
- Apple pie filling- This can be sold in various sizes but look for a 15oz can.
- Granulated sugar- You can substitute with brown sugar if needed.
- Caramel sauce- Any brand of storebought caramel sauce is fine or you can make homemade caramel sauce or tahini caramel sauce.
- Cinnamon- This enhances the flavor but you can skip the cinnamon if you don’t have it.

Tips & Tricks
Feel free to change the pie filling to create a new wonton flavor. Blueberry or cherry would be delicious!
You’ll want to cook these in batches to prevent overfilling the air fyer. I recommend assembling 8-10 (or however many can comfortably fit in your air fryer basket) then baking in batches while you continue to assemble the rest of the wontons.
Instead of sprinkling the wontons before serving with powdered sugar, you can create a simple icing as an additional dip option. Simply mix a cup of powdered sugar with a small amount of milk until you get the consistency you prefer – more milk, thinner icing; less milk, thicker icing.
