Caramel Apple Wontons {Air Fryer Recipe}

These little Caramel Apple Wontons are so wonderful.  They’re simple to make, and there’s no frying in deep oil, so they’re not greasy.  They are a great dessert, no matter what you’re serving for dinner.  You can serve them with a dollop of ice cream, with caramel sauce on the side, or just on their own, and everyone will love them.  Be sure to keep this recipe in your favorites!

Ingredients and Substitutions

  • Wonton wrappers- One package typically contains 40-50 wrappers which is more than enough for this recipe.
  • Apple pie filling- This can be sold in various sizes but look for a 15oz can.
  • Granulated sugar- You can substitute with brown sugar if needed.
  • Caramel sauce- Any brand of storebought caramel sauce is fine or you can make homemade caramel sauce or tahini caramel sauce.
  • Cinnamon- This enhances the flavor but you can skip the cinnamon if you don’t have it.

Tips & Tricks

Feel free to change the pie filling to create a new wonton flavor. Blueberry or cherry would be delicious!

You’ll want to cook these in batches to prevent overfilling the air fyer. I recommend assembling 8-10 (or however many can comfortably fit in your air fryer basket) then baking in batches while you continue to assemble the rest of the wontons.

Instead of sprinkling the wontons before serving with powdered sugar, you can create a simple icing as an additional dip option. Simply mix a cup of powdered sugar with a small amount of milk until you get the consistency you prefer – more milk, thinner icing; less milk, thicker icing.

It takes only 10 minutes and 5 ingredients to make these delicious Caramel Apple Wontons in the air fryer. These little bites make the perfect snack for fall!

  • 1 package wonton wrappers
  • 15 oz apple pie filling
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce
  • Powdered sugar (for sprinkling, optional)

  1. Place the apple pie filling in a bowl, and add the sugar, and cinnamon, and stir well.
  2. Lay the wonton wrappers out on flat surface, close to the air fryer.
  3. Place 1 1/2 teaspoons of the apple pie filling in the middle of the wonton wrapper then place a teaspoon of caramel sauce on top of the filling.
  4. Dip the teaspoon in the caramel sauce, and using the back of the teaspoon, run the spoon around the edges of the wonton wrapper.
  5. Pull the 4 edges of the wrapper up in a little bunch, and pinch together to secure the wonton.
  6. Place in the air fryer, and when the air fryer is full, spray with spray oil, coating the wontons.  Close the air fryer and set the time for 7 minutes, and the temperature at 350 degrees.
  7. When the wontons have finished cooking, remove them from the air fryer basket, and place on a plate.  Continue until you’ve finished making all the wontons.
  8. Drizzle the wontons with caramel sauce, and sprinkle generously with powdered sugar before serving.
