Tips for Making Streusel Topping

Creating a perfect streusel topping can elevate your baked goods to a new level of deliciousness. Here are some tips to help you make an irresistible streusel topping:

  1. Use cold ingredients: For the best texture, make sure your butter is cold. Cut it into small cubes and then incorporate it into the dry ingredients. Cold butter creates a crumbly texture when baked, resulting in a delightful streusel topping.
  2. Mix it with your fingertips: Instead of using a mixer or a spoon, use your fingertips to work the butter into the dry ingredients. This method allows you to control the texture and prevent overmixing. Gently rub the butter into the flour and sugar mixture until coarse crumbs form.
  3. Sprinkle it generously: Once your streusel topping is prepared, generously sprinkle it over your donuts. The streusel will add a delightful crumbly and crunchy texture, enhancing the overall taste and appearance.
While the cookies are baking, prepare the frosting.

How to Make a Simple Vanilla Glaze

To make a simple vanilla glaze, start by sifting powdered sugar to remove lumps. Gradually add a liquid like whole milk, whisking until smooth. Use pure vanilla extract for the best flavor. Adjust the consistency by adding more powdered sugar for thickness or liquid for thinness. Taste the glaze on a spoon and adjust as needed.

How to Store Homemade Donuts

  1. Allow the donuts to cool completely: Before storing, make sure the donuts have completely cooled down. Warm donuts can create condensation, leading to sogginess.
  2. Choose the right container: Select an airtight container or a resealable plastic bag large enough to accommodate the size of the donuts without squishing or overcrowding them.
  3. Separate layers with parchment paper: If you need to stack the donuts in the container, place a sheet of parchment paper between each layer to prevent them from sticking together.
  4. Store at room temperature: Freshly made donuts are best stored at room temperature. They should be consumed within 1 to 2 days for optimal taste and texture.
