Curious to try Barre3? Let’s talk about what it is, how much it costs, and if it’s the right workout for you.
What is Barre3?
According to their website, “Barre3 is a full-body balanced workout combining strength conditioning, cardio, and mindfulness. Our mission—and the driving factor behind every move we do in class—is to teach people to be balanced in body and empowered from within.” The actual workouts are pretty similar to a Pure Barre class. The main difference is that at Barre3, it’s a hard surface floor whereas Pure Barre classes have carpet. But the movements and workout style are similar.
Does Barre3 have studios?
Yes, Barre3 has over 170 studio locations across the country. You can find a location near you by using their studio finder here.
Is Barre3 Online?
Yes! If you can’t make it to a studio or they don’t have a location near you, you can still enjoy their classes online. As of 2023, the subscriptions cost $15 a month if you subscribe annually, or they’re slightly more expensive if you do it month by month. This is pretty much in line with other online fitness programs.
Are Barre3 Workouts Hard?
Barre3 workouts are challenging but you can adapt them to your fitness goals no matter where you’re starting. According to their website, “Our innovative approach combines low-impact isometric moves, large-range cardio bursts, and mind-centering breathwork. Barre3 instructors will challenge you to find your edge while creating space for you to define what success looks like for you in every workout.”
I like that the workouts are low impact but I’m still working up a sweat by the end of class! They’re not easy but the classes are a great way to tone and build flexibility and strength.
What Equipment Do I Need for Barre3?
You do need a little bit of equipment to complete the workouts. I recommend a set of light handweights (two sets will give you more options) plus resistance bands, sliders, and a core ball. You can order all of the equipment on their website but you can also find similar products at Target and Amazon.
Is Barre3 Good for Beginners?
Yes! I think it is. Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been doing workouts consistently for a long time, I think the classes are fairly easy to customize and meet you where you are on your fitness journey. You can always add weights, drop weights, do a plank on your knees versus your toes, etc. There are plenty of ways to modify the workouts as needed.
Does Barre3 Make You Bulky?
No, the exercises at Barre3 won’t make you bulky, but they will make you stronger! This is a great way to strengthen and lengthen your muscles while building flexibility and balance as well.
