You know how sometimes you just want something crunchy?  I get that craving more often than I think might be normal.  And usually you’d open a bag of chips (which you end up eating all of) but now you don’t have to. These are of course a sweet option for that craving but they definitely get the job done and they are much better for you than dried fruit you find in stores which usually has a bunch of added sugar and preservatives.  For these chips all you need is an apple and some cinnamon!  The oven gets them perfectly crunchy and you can dip them in some of my peanut butter fruit dip for the perfect snack time.

Once you try these, if you are still looking for other fun ways to use your apples be sure to check out my apple pie crisp, my apple butter, and my apple butter cider.

Let’s Make Some Baked Apple Chips!

First you will need to get yourself an apple corer.  This helps make the perfect round shape for your chips.  If you don’t have one, you can definitely do this without coring your apples first, you will just have some seeds in the middle so I like it a little better with one.

Also you will probably want a mandoline.  You want these chips super thin so that they get crunchy and unless you are a wiz with a knife, I don’t think that is going to cut it.  At least it didn’t for me – but if you can do it please go ahead! Just be careful 🙂

Other than that this is SUPER easy.  Just slice your apple, bake, and voila!  It does take over an hour so you want to plan this for when you will be at home.  But it is worth the wait!  I sprinkled some cinnamon on mine but you can always get creative with your spices or even leave them without any.

In addition to the listed ingredients you will need:

Hope this makes your snack time a little more fun this fall!

Description

Gluten Free, Vegan, Refined Sugar Free

Apple chips are crispy and flavorful, made with only two ingredients and have no added sugar.  They are an easy at home snack you can make as a healthy alternative to dried fruit from the stores.  Perfect for both kids and adults!

Ingredients

Scale
  • one apple
  • cinnamon to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 275F.
  2. Core your apple.
  3. Slice it with your mandoline at 1/8 in thick.
  4. Lay out apple slices on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper, sprinkle with cinnamon, and bake for an hour and a half – apples will be nice and crispy!

Notes

Check out my Amazon shop to get the apple corer and mandoline I use! I recommend having both of these for the easiest/best turn out – but if you are okay with seeds in your chips you don’t need the corer and if you can be VERY careful with a knife and slice very thin – the mandoline isn’t 100% necessary either.
